Journey to Kota Marudu..... (I)

Another district to be discovered,
thanks to my beloved driver with his Dave, the Isuzu Dmax.
The journey takes roughly 2 hours drive from Kota Kinabalu over a distance of 130 km.

It was 8 o'clock in the bright Sunday morning (17th July 2011)
So had breakfast at the Mamak Restaurant and that's when I saw Nasi Lemak with Sambal Ikan Masin
on the table.

.........open sesame!.............and I can see the nasi lemak.....

Tamparuli is a small town which is populated mainly by native Dusuns.

Ever heard about the popular kadazan-dusun song called Jambatan Tamparuli?
Being able to see the long hanging bridge with my own eyes is inspiring.

The river under the bridge

Another bridge for motorists.......which frequently flooded during heavy rain.

Cowsss.....by the roadside......and I wailed like I've never seen a cow before in my life.

The King of Fruits ~ The Durian

The RISE of the DURIANS in the city.
Went to the third mile market and to my expectation, durians are not cheap at the moment.
According to the seller, the so-called liu lian (in mandarin) will last till September,
so I hope by that time there'll be more to come, sold at a much cheaper price.

Fleshy and super delicious!  Sold at RM15 each at the moment because of the smaller size.
The bigger ones can go up to RM35 each.

RJ Ayam Bakar

A new kopitiam, another RJ (short for Raja) chain in town,
located along Abell Road, Kuching opposite Alliance Bank.

Crossing the road!  It's clear, it's a clear road!

Empty banana leaf nasi lemak...probably this stall operates only in the morning???!

Special Raja Ayam Bakar at RM8.50

Special Pecel Lele (cat fish/ikan keli) at RM8.50...........

Raja Ikan Bakar (Bawal) at RM8.00

Happy to see Maria again and thanks for introducing us this place.....

You want to sing, Paul?
